Do we do walk ins?
No. We are an appointment based studio whose focus every day is our client or clients that day.
Do we do piercings?
No. Nor do we sell jewelry.
How do I make an appointment?
While we do not take walkins, and do not have a phone, nor will we ever have a phone so our focus remains on our client that day, there are many ways to go about setting up a consultation or making an appointment if a consult is not necessary. The best way is to choose which artist you would like to work with, then either email us or contact that artist directly through their email. You can also message us on social media for artist info @sanctuarytattoogallery. Please allow your artist a decent amount of time to respond to your email.
How long do I have to wait for an appointment?
That depends on which artist you would like to work with, each artist takes care of their own scheduling and books different blocks of time. Generally you will have to wait at least a few weeks, and possibly months. Remember, a tattoo is a life long commitment and having the artist you really want to do it tattoo you is more rewarding longterm than finding somebody who can do it impulsively. Each artist may periodically "close their books" or stop taking new clients. This is a service to existing clients, it allows them time to finish work in progress, reschedule clients who needed to reschedule, and even make up for time if they get sick without clients having to wait seasons or years.
What happens during a consultation?
A consultation is usually conducted in person, although sometimes over the phone or simply email. During a consultation things like placement, sizing, layout, elements of design, length of sitting, etc. will be discussed. You should also bring any references you have relevant to your tattoo so both you and your artist have a visual representation of things similar to elements of your design. A consult is also a time to ask any questions about the process you may have.
Is a deposit required?
Yes, all appointments require a deposit. A deposit holds a date and time for your appointment. Your deposit will come off the total cost for your tattoo. Deposits are not refundable.
How much will my tattoo cost?
We don't know. While your artist will do their best to give you an estimated cost, it's just that, an estimate. So many things affect the time involved in your tattoo, many of which your artist won't know until well into the tattoo. Things such as: details, placement, size, your skin, etc. Our goal is to give you the best possible tattoo.
What forms of payment do we accept?
We accept cash, card, and for deposits also PayPal.
How can I prepare for my tattoo?
Relax. Dress comfortable. Make sure to rest the night before, bathe, be well hydrated, and eat a decent meal before coming in. Have no time constraints the day of your appointment. Sometimes your design may have to be changed to better work on your body. Other times stenciling takes longer than anticipated, others more breaks are needed. By having an open window that day, no pressure is added to your experience and it is easier to relax and be comfortable. For both you and your artist. Bring an iPad, bring a book, bring some headphones, but most importantly do not bring a child.
Are children allowed?
Absolutely not. If you have to bring a child, contact your artist to reschedule your appointment.
Where do I park?
There are 3 public parking structures and 1 public lot within a block of our studio, and often times there is also street parking.
If I am traveling to be tattooed what should I expect?
Fly in to Mitchell International Airport. It is not an excessively busy airport, but still convenient from anywhere in the country with direct flights. There are multiple hotels within a few blocks and countless restaurants, everything from pub food to chef tasting menu restaurants nearby. We are also near many of the cities attractions, theaters, Lake Michigan, bars, clubs, etc. When speaking with your artist let them know if you're traveling from out of town and they will do their best to make recommendations.
